Grooming times can vary depending on your pet’s needs. On average, Premier Grooms takes about 2 hours, and Bath & Tidy sessions take about 1 hour. Your dog’s stylist will provide a time estimate during check-in.

Puppies should start with a Puppy’s First Introduction groom, ideally at 4 months old. For the first 6 months, we recommend scheduling regular Bath & Tidy sessions every 2-3 weeks to help your puppy feel comfortable with the grooming process.

While we adore cats, our salon is exclusively for dogs.

Unless your veterinarian advises otherwise, all pets must be current on Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper vaccinations. Proof of vaccination is required.

Velvet Hound Groomery LLC Policies

• Timeliness: Please arrive on time for your appointment. Arriving 15 minutes late or more may result in cancellation and rescheduling. If the groomer can still accommodate you, a $10 late fee will apply.
• Pick-Up: Pets must be picked up within 30 minutes of completion. If you need extra time, please inform your groomer at drop-off. Late pick-ups incur a $10 fee for every 30 minutes past the scheduled pick-up time.
• Cancellations: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations (within 24 hours) will result in a fee equal to 50% of the grooming charge.
• Vaccinations: All pets must be up-to-date on Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper vaccinations, unless otherwise stated by your veterinarian. Proof of vaccination is required.
• Doodles: Due to their size and unpredictable coat types, Doodles are charged based on an hourly rate. The time required for grooming varies depending on coat condition, matting, and styling needs. Please consult with your groomer for more details.
• Matting: Severely matted coats will be shaved for your pet’s safety and comfort, with a $1 per minute charge for the shave-down process. If brushing is possible, the same $1 per minute charge applies. A Dematting Contract must be signed.
• Pet Behavior: Aggressive pets will not be accepted. If aggression occurs during the appointment, the groom will stop, and you’ll need to pick up your pet immediately.
• Health Requirements: Pets must be healthy to enter the salon. If your pet is ill, injured, or has open wounds, please reschedule until they are in good health.
• Puppies: All puppies must complete a “Puppy’s First Introduction” groom before scheduling a Premier Groom.
• Elderly Pets: Older pets may require extra time and modified grooming for their comfort. Additional fees may apply. The groomer may stop the session if the pet shows signs of stress or discomfort.
• Pre-Existing Conditions: Please inform us of any skin conditions, allergies, or other pre-existing health concerns during drop-off.
• Photos: Photos taken by Velvet Hound Groomery staff may be used on our website or social media.
• Grooming Schedules: Pets receiving haircuts must stay on a consistent schedule of every 4–12 weeks.
• Sanitation: Please ensure your pet relieves themselves before their appointment to help maintain a clean salon environment.
• Safety: Velvet Hound Groomery prioritizes your pet’s safety. While unpredictable situations may occur, we do our best to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Providing detailed information about your pet is greatly appreciated.
